Summer Days, Cardboard Boat Regatta and Coffee with the Mayor

What are your plans for the weekend?

Are you looking for something to do this weekend?

There's plenty to do in and around Grayslake. Of course, there's Grayslake Summer Days! And the Cardboard Boat Regatta! And much more!

The weather should be perfect for whatever you plan to do, with nothing but sunny skies and upper-80s temperatures in the forecast

Here's a look at some events coming up this weekend:

'Dancing with the Stars in Grayslake'

Grayslake will hold its annual Summer Days Aug. 16-17, featuring a carnival, business booths, bingo and, of course, the Summer Days Parade. Check out the full schedule here.

Cardboard Boat Regatta

The Grayslake Park District will hold its 8th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 17 at Jones Island Beach. Do you plan to participate?

Coffee with the Mayor

Mayor Rhett Taylor is inviting residents to join him for coffee from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 17. He'll be available to chat or ask questions at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum.

"Crossing for Kids"

Jodi Heller of Wildwood will swim across Gages Lake at 9 a.m. Aug. 17 to celebrate her 40th birthday and to raise money for the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Let's all cheer Jodi on!

Battle of the Bands

The Lali-Palooza Battle of the Bands will be held at the Lake County Fairgrounds at 2 p.m. Aug. 17. The event serves as a fundraiser and helps raise awareness of the prescription pill/heroin addiction issue. The event is held in memory of Alex N. Laliberte, a Buffalo Grove resident and Stevenson High School grad who died of a heroin overdose at age 20.

Back to School in Style

Gurnee Mills will host a "Back At It" event from 3-5 p.m. Aug. 17, featuring giveaways, a back-to-school runway show and more. The event will take place in the mall's new full-price wing, which features a full-line Macy's department store.
