Understand Your Finances With New Game

A place to live, food to eat, clothes to wear. It all adds up. Quickly. The past economic crisis has shown all of us just how important it is to understand our personal finances.

Since April is National Financial Literacy Month, it’s a perfect time to take look at our finances and how it affects our lives. And see who is in control of our money.

Get Smart. Here’s a Resource
Money Smart, a personal financial literacy program, can provide you with the knowledge necessary to make intelligent decisions about your money. The program is online, free, and available to all residents living in all 17 Illinois community college districts that are part of the IGEN Career Pathways consortia. This includes the College of Lake County.

Since Money Smart is entirely online, it can be accessed from any computer. The program is designed as a game and comes with a certificate when all modules are completed and passing grade achieved. Modules include how to develop spending plans, obtaining and using credit effectively, and the basics of building or repairing credit.
