Doris B. Masek, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Monday May 13, 2013 at the age of 84. She was born July 8, 1928, in Chicago, IL to John and Olga Zimbleman. Doris is survived by her beloved sister Joan (Mario) Arcari, her loving niece and nephews Lisa (Gary) Guy, Scot Arcari, and Todd (Neoma) Arcari, and her loving grandnieces and grandnephews. Nicholas Domenico, 89, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home in the presence of his loving family. He was born March 12, 1924 in Altoona, PA, was formerly of Chicago and a resident of Saddlebrook Farms for the past 16 years. Nick was very athletic and was an avid sports fan, enjoying the Cubs, Blackhawks, Bulls and Bears. He was a former employee of the Sportmart store and was also a musician, playing his guitar as a member of the Mellowmen. Eugene L. “Les” Werhniak, age 85, of Gages Lake, passed away at home on Sun. May 5, 2013. He was born in Highland Park on April 24, 1928 to the now late Anton and Emma Werhniak. Les served his country proudly as a U.S. Marine. He was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. in Lake Villa, a retiree from Abbott Labs, and loved to ride his Harley. Walter A. Kazakeich, a resident of Grayslake and formerly of Glenview, passed away Sunday May 5, 2013 at the age of 73. He was born June 9, 1939 in Chicago to Walter and Harriet Kazakeich. Walter was a veteran of the US Army and had worked for the Niles Public Works for over 33 years. Allen E. Botimer, 81, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 in Park Ridge. He was born April 27, 1932 in Defiance, Ohio and had been a resident of Libertyville since 1961. Allen was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the occupation of Europe in Austria and Italy. He held a Bachelor's degree in music education and a masters degree in history from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. He taught at several school districts, including Stevenson High School and later Robert Morris College in Chicago. He was a member of the Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Grayslake. Gene R. Boydston, a 67-year-old Gurnee resident, passed away at Lake Forest Hospital on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2013. He was born in Chicago on November 12, 1945. He graduated from Round Lake High School. Gene served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Robin K. Jimmy “James” R. Romich, a 70-year-old Round Lake Heights resident, passed away at home late Friday night, April 26, 2013. He was born in Boise, ID on May 26, 1942 to the now late Mike and Pauline (nee Paddock) Romich. Jim served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a former advisor for the Round Lake Beach Police Cadets, a long-time volunteer/caretaker for Spay and Stay in Grayslake, and one of the original members of the Round Lake Area Mobile Eye.
