Fill your belly with pancakes and help the Grayslake Youth Baseball Association at Saturday's pancake breakfast. LifeSource will also be holding a blood drive.
Come out to the Grayslake Fire Station at 160 Hawley St. Saturday, Feb. 9 for the annual Grayslake Youth Baseball Association/Firefighter Blood Donor Challenge. The cost is $5 per person. Players eat free. The pancake breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., to benefit the GYBA, which is accepting registration for the spring season now at www.gybaonline.com. The LifeSource blood drive will take place 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, though appointments are preferred. To register, call Ingrid Skidmore at (847) 223-8960. The Grayslake Fire Department, in coordination with LifeSource, will host a blood drive Saturday featuring a chance to meet former Chicago Bear Shaun Gayle.
Donate blood at the Grayslake Fire Department and LifeSource blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdat, Nov. 3 at 160 Hawley St. and register for a chance to win Super Bowl tickets. Arts Festival, blood drive and new exhibit at the Heritage Center drew hundreds to downtown Grayslake.
The sweltering heat Saturday afternoon did not keep everyone indoors. Hundreds turned out to downtown Grayslake for the Chamber of Commerce 17th Annual Arts Festival. A diverse group of 45 vendors set up shop along Center Street offering their wares for sale including stained glass, pottery, watercolor and oil paintings, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry and more. Local artist Doris Monti of Grayslake brought her pictures, a combination of pastels, watercolors, oils and prints. It was her first show in 15 years. “There’s so much art, but really not so much drawings and paintings,” Monti said as she easily sketched a storefront in her view. “I’ve been drawing since I was three and realized I could actually make money off of this after I retired…

Join firefighters from the Grayslake Fire Department in giving blood. The Firefighters Blood Drive takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, June 16. Come out to the Grayslake Fire Station 1, at 160 Hawley Street, in downtown Grayslake. "Last year, we collected 52 units of blood," said Greg Formica, deputy chief. "We would love to collect even more this year." People who donate are encouraged to eat a good meal and drink extra water before donating.
