What to do with Your Christmas Tree
Residents can recycle their Christmas trees by dropping them off at a Lake County Forest Preserve where they'll be chipped and used to make trails, or have them picked up by Waste Management through the village's holiday tree pick-up program.
Residents have two options for getting rid of their Christmas tree—recycle it or participate in the village's holiday tree pick-up program. Recycling Don’t want to send your Christmas tree to the landfill? Drop it off at a Lake County Forest Preserve site for recycling. Donated trees are chipped and used for trails and for landscaping at forest preserves throughout Lake County. Bring your tree to a drop-off site at one of the following forest preserves, open daily from 6:30 a.m. to sunset: Only undecorated, real Christmas trees can be accepted; no yard waste.
