Grayslake Students to Compete in Regional Destination Imagination Tournament Saturday

Area elementary and middle school students will compete in the Far North Regional Tournament of Destination Imagination in Libertyville Saturday.

More than 40 Grayslake students will put their problem-solving skills to the test Saturday, March 2 at the Far North Regional Tournament of Destination Imagination, a non-profit organization that fosters creativity and teamwork in the areas of science, technology engineering, math, the arts and service learning. This year, FedEx Ground employees will join District 46 staff and parents as volunteers. The regional tournament will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Highland Middle School at 310 W. District 46 Education Foundation Softball Tourney Big Success

First annual Home Run for Education is a grand slam.

The D46 Education Foundation hosted its first annual Home Run for Education softball tournament on Sept. 15 in Central Park. Eight teams of 10-15 players came together for this exciting and spirited all day event in the beautiful late summer sunshine. Four opening round games took place in the morning, followed by two semi-final match-ups in the early afternoon. Two teams were left standing for the championship game: Frederick School Teachers vs Hit for Brains. The championship game was great entertainment as a talented Hit for Brains team outlasted a strong team of Frederick School teachers. The tournament was capped by a short awards celebration at The Vine’s annual outdoor Blues Fest where the champions donated $500 of their $600 prize …
