Former Jack's Pizza Manager Facing New Drug Charges

Jack Papandreou, one of the former managers of the now closed Jack's Pizza in Grayslake, plead not guilty to drug conspiracy charges in court this week, reported the Daily Herald.

One of the former managers of the shuttered Jack's Pizza and Burgers in Grayslake plead not guilty this week to three counts of criminal drug conspiracy, reported the Daily Herald. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency reportedly has telephone recordings of 37-year-old Jack Papandreou involving drug deals with his brother while he (Jack) was in prison in Indiana, according to the Daily Herald. In May 2011, Papandreou and his two brothers managed Jack's Pizza in Grayslake and Waukegan when employees were arrested in a cocaine ring bust, reported Patch. Lake County Woman Charged with Multiple Drug Offenses

A Lake Villa woman arrested for intent to deliver heroin, among other drug charges, will appear in court Tuesday.

A Lake County Sheriff's deputy made a significant drug bust in Lake Villa, finding a woman in possession of heroin, cocaine and marijuana. Stacie Vickers, 38, of the 24000 Block of W. Forest Drive, Lake Villa, was driving southbound on Route 59 near Busse Lane on April 22 when she was stopped by a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy. The deputy smelled marijuana inside Vickers’ vehicle and conducted a search that produced 78.6 grams of marijuana, 9.4 grams of cocaine, 3 grams of heroin, drug paraphernalia and $1,062.00 in cash, according to a press release. Lake County Detectives Make Drug, Weapons Bust in Zion

A traffic stop turns into a significant drug bust Thursday when officers find crack cocaine, heroin and two guns.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU) conducted a traffic stop Thursday, August 2 at 23rd Street and Lewis Avenue in Zion. Police say The driver of the 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe, 43-year-old Kevin D. Howell gave SIU officers consent to search the vehicle.  Deputy Bell of the LCSO and K-9, Thor, also assisted SIU. The search of the interior of the vehicle netted a large amount of crack cocaine. A loaded 9mm handgun was also located by detectives in the air filter of the engine compartment of the Tahoe.  Heroin was located on Howell’s person as well. Police Bust Local Crack Cocaine Ring

Authorities say they caught Rafael Russell selling crack cocaine to an undercover detective.

The Lake County Sheriff's Department arrested 24-year-old Rafael Russell of Round Lake Park, capping off a two week investigation. Sheriff Mark Curran said Russell was part of a crack distribution ring that ran from Round Lake Beach to Waukegan. He was arrested when he conducted a hand-to-hand sale of $280 worth of crack cocaine to an undercover detective with the Special Investigations Unit. Russell is charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance. He is awaiting a bond hearing at the Lake County Courthouse.

Pizza with a Side of Cocaine

Pizza delivery drivers accused of dispensing cocaine through Jack's Pizza and Burgers, according to reports by the Chicago Tribune.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that 19 people were arrested in a Lake County drug bust involving Jack's Pizza and Burgers. The restaurant has locations in Waukegan and Grayslake. According to the Tribune: "Nineteen people have been charged in a wide-ranging Lake County cocaine ring bust that authorities said at times operated out of two well-known pizza parlors and used pizza delivery vehicles to distribute the drugs." The Grayslake Police Department was not involved in this operation, Cmdr. Matt McCutcheon said. It was handled by the Waukegan Police Department in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency and county prosecutors. Check back to Grayslake Patch for more information.
