Gasoline Prices Rise 13 Percent Over Last 32 Days

CNN Money reports the average price for a gallon of gasoline in America is $3.73. Grayslake gasoline prices are even higher.

Most motorists have noticed that the price of gasoline has done nothing but rise over the past month. CNN Money reports the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in America has increased more than 13 percent over the past 32 days to $3.73. On Monday afternoon, gas prices in Grayslake ranged from $3.86 at the Speedway on Route 83 and at the Shell Service Station on Route 45 to $3.90 at the Belvidere Mobile station. CNN Money is crediting the price increase to a combination of factors including rising crude oil prices, production cuts and refinery closings.

Forgery Warrants Issued for Two Men Attempting to Defraud Grayslake Area Gas Company

The Lake County Sheriff's Department issued warrants for two men who placed an order for fuel with State Oil Company using a bogus cashier's check.

Outstanding forgery warrants have been issued for two Wisconsin men who attempted to purchase gas from State Oil Company, located at 31366 N. Highway 45, Libertyville, (unincorporated Grayslake) with a fraudulent $30,000 cashier's check. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office issued warrants for Laurence Esser, 55, of the 4300 block of Conifer Ct. in Union Grove, Wis., and Maximo Rodriguez, 57, of the 2400 block of 65th Dr. in Franksville, Wis. Esser's bond is $50,000. Rodriguez's bond is $25,000. Law enforcement is still looking for the two suspects, who are believed to be in Wisconsin, possibly driving a white van, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Department. Grayslake Station Sold Tainted Gas, BP Says

Three Grayslake gas stations that sell BP fuel were identified as infected stations.

The BP gas stations at 320 S. Route 45 and 1275 N. Route 83 have been identified as having received tainted gas. Another station at 491 S. Route 83, which also sells BP gas, was included. BP released a searchable database that lists all of the stations that "did receive off-specification gasoline associated with problems related to the alkylation unit at BP’s Whiting, Indiana refinery," BP officials said on their site. "Once identified, each location was instructed to immediately stop selling the off-spec fuel and to properly clean out their tanks and dispose of the material," officials continued.
