Parents, students and teachers are being asked to take an online survey that will help highlight their particular school's strengths and weaknesses.
Parents, teachers and students are invited to take a statewide survey aimed at identifying strengths and weaknesses at local schools. The Illinois 5Essentials Survey, run by the State Board of Education (ISBE), opened Feb. 1 and can be taken online through March 31. It focuses on five essential components for school success: effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environment and ambitious instruction. The survey will also be administered to students in the sixth through 12th grades. Schools in Grayslake, Libertyville and Vernon Hills were given the honor for sustaining high academic performance for three consecutive years.
Several local schools have been given high honors by the Illinois State Board of Education this week. Eight schools have been named to the Academic Honor Roll and given the 2012 Academic Excellence Award. The following schools are among 454 Illinois schools receiving the award, along with the percent of students who met or exceeded standards: The schools honored all sustained high academic performances over the past three years.
