Driver Sustained Minor Injuries in Car-vs-Train Collision

The female driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Update, 4:09 p.m. Wednesday: From Grayslake Fire Lt. Doug Slazes: "The Grayslake Fire Department responded to a car vs. train accident at approximately 1:44 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8. Upon arrival, fire crews found a late model Ford Escape with heavy front-end damage. The vehicle was occupied with one female driver who sustained minor injuries. The driver appears to have been traveling north on Rte. 137 and turned left onto Rte. 83. It is unknown if she saw the railroad gates.  "According to bystanders, the driver saw the train and braked. The train struck the car on the driver front of the vehicle. The driver was taken to Condell Hospital in Libertyville with minor injuries. No other parties were injured on the scene and the car was towed …

Just went by there today, there IS a red no left turn at that intersection coming from Rt 137.....and when she turned left wouldn't she have hit the crossing bar before the train? She had someone looking over her that day, glad it wasn't more serious.   more ›

Flooding Causes Road Closures in Lake County

The Lake County Sheriff's Office and Lake County PASSAGE are updating which roadways are closed throughout Lake County due to flooding.

Here is an updated list of road closures and roads with water over the pavement. The Lake County Sheriff's Office reminds resident to use extreme caution when passing through any standing water. What's traffic like in today's snowstorm?

From what it looks like on Lake County PASSAGE, many major roadways are virtual parking lots due to today's snowstorm. Upwards of 4 or 5 inches of snow has already fallen in many spots in northern Illinois.  We want to know: How are the roads out there? How long was your commute home today? Construction on Washington Street Begins April 9

Lake County Passage alerted drivers today that Washington Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

Drivers, beware. Washington Street, west of Highway 45, will be reduced to one lane in each direction due to roadwork starting today, April 9. Traffic will be s-l-o-w going, especially during rush hour. Visit Lake County Passage for updates and alerts on road construction and traffic accidents.

Traffic Alert Cleared: Signal Problems Fixed On Routes 83/120

Drivers can relax a little, they earlier signal problems at Routes 83 and 120 have been cleared.

The Lake County Passage website has cleared an earlier alert for heavy traffic delays as a result of a temporarily malfunctioning signal at Routes 83 and 120 in Grayslake. All clear. Continue on.
