The College of Lake County is hoping to enlist upwards of 250 area residents to volunteer in partnership with the United Way of Lake County for the Martin Luther King Day of Service on Saturday, Feb. 2. Are you in?
To celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the College of Lake County, in partnership with United Way of Lake County, is seeking up to 250 volunteers to work on several service projects on Saturday, Feb. 2 that help increase educational opportunities in local communities. Volunteers age 10 and above are invited to volunteer as are family groups, church and youth groups, scout groups and CLC staff and students. Registration is from 7:45 a.m. to 8 a.m. in room C005 (C Wing Auditorium) on the CLC Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington St., in Grayslake. Local members of Congress read to children, paint murals as part of National Day of Service honoring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Local members of Congress spread out through Washington Saturday taking books to a children’s hospital and sprucing up a children’s shelter as part of the National Day of Service honoring the memory of the late Dr. Martin Luther King. Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield) took books to the National Children’s Medical Center while Rep.
