Public Hearing Tonight On Washington Street Expansion

The county is seeking public input on its plan to widen Washington Street west of Lake Street to Hainesville Road and to build a railroad overpass at the crossing.

There is an Open House Public Hearing tonight June 7 about the plans to widen Washington Street from Hainesville Road to Lake Street. The project includes building a railroad bridge over Washington Street and expanding the road to four lanes along a 1.5 mile section of the road. The meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m. at Prairieview School on Route 120. The county said this is necessary to "address capacity, safety, and continuity issues." Washington Street is an east-west minor arterial that provides regional mobility for residents in Lake County, according to county documents. They added that Washington Street is an integral component in the overall regional transportation system. For information, visit www.washingtonthoroughfareproject.com.

Murray began with the Grayslake Community Consolidated School District 46 as a seventh-grade teacher and coach at Grayslake Middle School before becoming assistant principal at Park School when the campus opened four years ago. “It was certainly a challenge but also an honor to do so too,” Murray said of leading Park School from the first day. “It’s not often to start a school from the ground…
