Students learn that science can be exciting through Illinois Science Olympiad competitions.
Science can be a tricky subject in school. While some kids love the experiments and problem solving, others struggle with the details of DNA, the galaxy and everything in between. Illinois Science Olympiad (ISO) is an organization that helps kids get excited about science through hands-on events. Competitions are held in all areas of science including chemistry, biology, earth science and physics. Grayslake schools have been involved in ISO for years, recently competed at the invitationals in Crystal Lake. Coach Dan Cahill, a physics teacher at GCHS for the past nine years, said the varsity team won third place in the Robot Ramble. This is an event where two students demonstrate the capabilities of a working remote-controlled robot they …
