Bill Kurtis to be Keynote Speaker at Lake County Chamber Dinner

The Lake County Chamber of Commerce's 98th annual Awards and Installation Dinner will feature legendary journalist Bill Kurtis.

The Lake County Chamber of Commerce and guests will celebrate the organization’s 98th anniversary with a dinner celebration at the Lake Forest Club on April 17 to welcome new board members and honor outstanding business leaders within the chamber.  The annual dinner is one of the chamber’s largest fundraisers with proceeds from the event being used to support member programming and services for the Lake County Chamber. Six Flags Great America in Gurnee has scheduled four hiring events. The first will be held Saturday, Feb. 9.

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee is hiring more than 3,000 seasonal employees ranging from entry-level to management-level positions including paid internships. Hiring events are scheduled for select Saturdays in February and March from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and candidates are encouraged to apply on-line at www.sixflagsjobs.com prior to arriving. Six Flags Cockroach-Eating Contest Still on but Under Review

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee is reviewing a contest it holds each Friday night during Fright Fest after a man dies in following an insect-eating contest in Florida.

The cockroach-eating contest held Friday nights at Six Flags Fright Fest will continue while the event is being reviewed by park officials following the death of a 32-year-old man who participated in a similar contest at a Florida pet store last week, according to the Associated Press. "The contest has not been suspended, simply being reviewed according to the statement below," said Brandon Bruce, Six Flags Public Relations Specialist We were sorry to learn about the unfortunate incident at the reptile store in Florida and our hearts go out to the gentleman’s friends and family. Six Flags Fright Fest Opens Today

Scary good fun for all at Six Flags Fright Fest, starting Saturday Sept. 29 in Gurnee.

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee kicks off its 22nd season of Fright Fest, which is presented by SNICKERS®, with new haunts and more scares than ever before. Starting September 29 and running weekends throughout October, the theme park transforms into a 100-acre, fog-filled land of shadows, ghosts and ghouls that offers thrills by day and fright by night. Jackson Kids' Visit to Six Flags is a Thriller for Park

Michael Jackson's three kids enjoyed a fun-filled day at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee Monday.

It was a "thriller" of a day Monday at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee when the King of Pop's children showed up for some play time. Michael Jackson's kids, Prince Michael, 15; Paris, 14; and Blanket, 10, are in town to attend tribute events being held in Gary, Ind. through Saturday. "We don't get celebrities often, but every once in a while they pop up in town," said Katy Enrique, Six Flags Communications Manager. The Jackson children were accompanied by their cousin and new co-guardian, TJ Jackson. Members of the famous musical family are in town to pay tribute to Michael Jackson and what would have been his 54th birthday.
