CLC Seeks Volunteers for Martin Luther King Day of Service

The College of Lake County is hoping to enlist upwards of 250 area residents to volunteer in partnership with the United Way of Lake County for the Martin Luther King Day of Service on Saturday, Feb. 2. Are you in?

To celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the College of Lake County, in partnership with United Way of Lake County, is seeking up to 250 volunteers to work on several service projects on Saturday, Feb. 2 that help increase educational opportunities in local communities. Volunteers age 10 and above are invited to volunteer as are family groups, church and youth groups, scout groups and CLC staff and students. Registration is from 7:45 a.m. to 8 a.m. in room C005 (C Wing Auditorium) on the CLC Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington St., in Grayslake. A breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. along with a presentation on Dr. King’s legacy and performances by the Word of Life Ministries choir and praise dance team. Volunteers will …

United Way of Lake County To Host Leadership Breakfast

Keynote speaker Ralph R. Smith will share community solutions for early learning success.

United Way of Lake County’s annual Leadership Breakfast brings together businesses, nonprofit agencies, community partners and individuals to create lasting change and improve lives in Lake County. The breakfast will be held Friday, Oct. 5 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Independence Grove, 16400 West Buckley Road, Libertyville.  "We hope that everyone who attends gets really inspired to prepare children throughout Lake County to succeed," said Valerie Petersen, spokesperson for UWLC. United Way of Lake County is partnering with Grand Appliance and TV to raise funds.

Local retailer Grand Appliance and TV has partnered with United Way of Lake County to raise funds for United Way of Lake County with a special savings event.   The public is invited to shop at the Grand Appliance and TV locations in Libertyville (240 Peterson Road, 847-549-9807) or Waukegan (2915 Grand Avenue, 847- 336-4725) on April 24, 2012 from 3-8 p.m. and 10 percent of the night’s profit will be donated to United Way of Lake County’s Reading Success Program, which builds literacy skills to ensure all students are able to read at grade level by the end of third grade.   On April 24, Grand Appliance and TV will offer exclusive event pricing on appliances, electronics and bedding and will also have several giveaways, including a 32” LCD …
