Correct John, the pension funds like TRS can go bankrupt while the state cannot. This is why the unions are fighting so hard for the guarantee to be in any bill.
The unions are against this bill as well, although for different reasons than i am.

ReplyExactly Dr. Parker. It's the taxing bodies raising the taxes. The assessments just spread the burden around, supposedly in a fair fashion.

Yes, Kindergarten tuition in public schools IS deductible.

"your student attended kindergarten (at a school that also has a first grade) through twelfth grade at a public or nonpublic school in Illinois during the tax year."

ReplyOne thing I hadn't had a chance to comment on yet, the state cannot go bankrupt, but the pension funds themselves could very well go bankrupt. This is why the unions leaders are pushing so hard for a pension guarantee.
