About Mike

Hi, I'm Mike. I am a freelance writer and baseball coach who retired from 20 years public school teaching in 2009. I have been a resident of Grayslake since 1992. My wife of 24 years, Linda, teaches 7th grade Social Studies in Highland Park and my son, Alex, is a freshman at Grayslake Central High School.

I also attended Grayslake High School from 1966-1968. We have two cats Harvey & Cricket who take infinite pleasure in being waited on hand and foot by everyone in the family. My two passions are coaching/teaching baseball and music (both listening & playing). I love to read and write whenever I can.

The small town community feel of Grayslake is something I cherish and love to brag about. The idea of writing for an online newspaper to cover local events, talk with local people and promote local businesses
was an irresistible draw for me. I am so looking forward to extolling the virtues of Grayslake and its uniqueness for Patch.com.

Hey Mike, This past Saturday, Oct 22, The Rams XC teams competed in the IHSA Antioch regional at Fox River Park in Silver Lake, Wisc. The boys team won the championship with Will Brewster taking the individual honors. The girls finished in 3rd place and will join the boys running for an IHSA Sectional championship in Belvidere. I have a couple of great photos, just don't know how to load them.

Hey Mike, I was wondering if I could use one of your pictures for my Facebook profile...I love the picture you took at the Rams football game from 9/30 that said Beat Cancer with all of the pink hand prints. Of course, I would make sure you got credit!
Thanks!
