People, Pets on Parade at Summer Days

Barks and beeps could be heard in downtown Grayslake as a pet and bike parade traveled through town Saturday afternoon.

For Round Lake Beach resident Jennifer Kusinski, the parade served as a "good socialization project" for her new dog, Achilles, who she adopted two months ago.

Achilles is a nearly 8-month-old German Shepherd.

"He was a city dog," said Kusinski, whose father lives in Grayslake. Achilles seemed to be adapting well to suburban life, as he relaxed in the shade before the start of the parade.

Andrea Robles, 13, of Grayslake, brought her Chihuahua, Lola. The tiny dog wore a pastel-colored tutu for the occasion.
