Alwin Anthony Salon Has New Name, Upgrades

If you've driven or walked past 250 Center St. lately, you may have have noticed that the salon at the location has a new name: Alwin Anthony Salon.

Owner Sara Alwin Bott wants you to know that it's still the same salon, just with a new name—and some upgrades.

Formerly known as the Ashley Alwin Salon, Bott is now the sole owner and renamed the salon to pay tribute to her grandfather, Anthony, who was a barber in Chicago.

"Essentially we're the same salon with new upgrades," said Bott.

There's a nail bar, for example, which Bott said is the first of its kind in the area. The bar, which features lower and taller seats, is perfect for private parties and wedding parties, Bott said. It also provides "a nice social atmosphere," Bott said, that allows for true side-by-side manicures.

Alwin Anthony also has a new, private room for waxing, along with a relaxing room for pedicures. Bott said the salon is offering a Date Night package, where a couple can get pedicures and a gift certificate for dinner at The Vine.

The salon also recently started selling the Erin Rose Designs line, which features steampunk jewelry and other unique items, Bott said.

She added that Alwin Anthony uses all organic and vegan products on clients' hair.
