GNHS Marching Knights' 'Sinister' Show Sweeps Competition

The marching band competed at the Renegade Regiment Musicfest.

Under the direction of Candace Edstrand, Laura Bertermann, Dan Betermann and Michelle Ruotolo, the Grayslake North High School (GNHS) Marching Knights swept the competition on Oct. 20 at the Renegade Regiment Musicfest in Sandwich.

In Class AAA competition, the Marching Knights earned first place for their field show, entitled “Sinister,” as well as Best Drumline and Best Auxiliary (color guard). Their outstanding performance, which included various ominous-themed music titles, also earned them the coveted Grand Champion title, beating out 15 other bands from throughout northeastern Illinois.

You can help support the award-winning band at their upcoming dine-and-share fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings, 500 E. Rollins Road, Round Lake Beach on Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the band.
