Grayslake Running Club Planning First 'Fall Frolic' 5K

The event is slated for Sept. 22. Sign up now!

The Grayslake Running Club is planning its inaugural Fall Frolic 5K Run/Walk.

The event, slated for Sept. 22, will serve as a fundraiser for The Autism Society of Illinois.

"The Autism Society of Illinois was chosen because Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S. and if we can create awareness and make a difference, it can start in Grayslake!" said Lupe Gallardo, president of the Grayslake Running Club.

The Fall Frolic will start and end at Central Park near the aquatic center, 250 Library Lane, Gallardo said. There will be a Kids Dash at 8:45 a.m., followed by the 5K run at 9 a.m. Walkers will begin at 9:05 a.m.

The race will use ZumTri technology, meaning participants will have a chip that will provide them with post-race animation.

Participants can register in advance on the Grayslake Running Club's website. The cost to register before Sept. 18 is $30 for the 5K Run/Walk and $10 for the Kids Dash. Registration after Sept. 18, and on the day of the event from 7:30-8:45 a.m., will be $35 for the 5k and $15 for the Kids Dash. Checks can be made out to the Grayslake Running Club.

The first 300 participants to register will receive a t-shirt.

The event will also include entertainment, including from the band King By Friday.

The Fall Frolic's platinum sponsors are Grayslake Rehabilitation and Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.
